Projects- Genre Finder
- Originally written in Visual Basic 6.0 for an A level computing coursework. Has being re-written to work in VB.NET, is being again re-written to not work in Gambas. Finds what 'percentage' of any genre (or tag..) any one given user is. To install copy the .exe to a suitable directory and run it. Tested on Windows XP/Vista; requires .NET Framework 2.0.

Use other artist charts (1/3/12 monthly)- Editable blacklist
- ignores non-genre tags to give better results

- couldn't think of a good way of doing this neatly AND obviously to the user, so i've put little question marks next to the options...
- Scale option
- Scale the BB/HTML code outputs AND the one dissplayed
- this leads to some rather ruff resizing of the results form so that you can see the results...
- option to use links in BB/HTML outputs
- Changed
- Now compiled in VB 2008 Express Edition
- This shouldn't raise the .NET Framework requirements though
- More logical cacheing structure
- allows for different months
- and only one artist folder
- New options 'tab' for sorting data
- which removes the clutter as I really can't see many people using this
- User can no longer resize options panel. What was I thinking. :-)
- Results options and main options merged into the same window, but on different tabs.
- Fixed

FAQ?- Some lovely quotes from a couple of questions I got. I maybe QUOTIN OUT OF CONTEXT. Maybe.
- TAG CLOUD?!?
- To me, artists can't be classified as Seen Live or Albums I Own, and neither can you. My program allows you to filter out non-genre tags so that you are left with just the genres. Still, if you want to find out how 'crap' you are the program will still except it. :-)
- GIMMIE THE SOURCE!
- SAYS I NEED .NET?!?
- Yes you do (anything above 2.0 should do), I'd like to get rid of that as well. :-(
TODOs- For next version
- Done
- Added
- Changed
- default number for No of artists shown on the results page increased to 25
- Fixed
- Not Done
- Some of the new options wont show in the results untill you run the program again
- this could be fixed, but in the mean time i'll just use some way of warning the user..
- Clean up about section
- Clean up old (OLD) code
- Use county names instead of user names
- re-intrigate percentage bar with text (I liked it better like that)
- Automatic version numbering
- Put some screenshots up on the site
- For some other version
- Aesthetics
- allow user to pick the colours of output (can't find an easy way to do this though)
- Check for updates button
- New tab to results: comman genres
- Show what percentage you are with comman tags such as 'rock','pop' and so on
- Artist play count should play a part - e.g. your top artist should add more than your 10th artist
- Compare multiple users
- Get rid of .NET requirements?
- Greasemonkey Scripts
- I've got a couple of work in progresses and a few alterations I've made to other people's scripts that have broken after one of the many Last.fm site updates.
Require the Mozilla Firefox browser and Greasemonkey to be installed.

Dead/Need Updating- Last.fm Skinner
- Simple tool that could skin the Last.fm client application with new graphics for the buttons/backgrounds.
Created more as an experiment than anything else, still I like my Last.fm black and this tool helps you go the extra mile (see screen shot).
Where did it go wrong? When Last.fm hid the button files from me in version 1.5 (or there abouts); I can't find them anywhere! - I'm guessing they are imbedded in a .dll or the .exe file!
